Chairman of the KRRiT: Russia's goal is to arouse hatred in society

s

Russia, through professionally conducted disinformation activities, pursues three goals: dividing Polish society, arousing Poles' reluctance to their own country, so that they surrender to Russian domination, and striving to weaken Poland through its alienation in NATO – believes Maciej Świrski, Chairman of the National Broadcasting Council.

"Russia wants to divide society into two warring tribes. It is not just about political views, but about inciting hatred so that there is no communication between people. If we are to fight disinformation, firstly, there must be civil vigilance and we must maintain this vigilance. This is not about persecution mania, but simply to know that such operations are taking place" –  as Maciej Świrski noted in his speech during the Warsaw Summit against Disinformation.

The President of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) added that this event shows that the countries of the Central and Eastern Europe region have similar problems with Russian disinformation. The Warsaw Summit against Disinformation serves to jointly deal with these problems.
“We are not helpless. There are laws established in our countries to fight disinformation, you just have to use them. That is what this conference is for " – Maciej Świrski stressed.

The Warsaw Summit against Disinformation takes place on October 4-5, 2023 at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
